Privacy Policy – Contact Vault

Contact Vault ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application collects, uses, and shares information, including through third-party services used in the app.

1. Information We Access

Contact Vault may request the following permissions, used strictly for app functionality:

Contacts Permission

• READ_CONTACTS
• WRITE_CONTACTS

Used only for contact management features within the app (viewing, editing, duplicate detection, hidden/secured contacts).

Storage Access Used for exporting backup files (CSV) created by the user, and for saving/viewing media (photos, WhatsApp status, etc.) within relevant app features.

Internet Access Used to display ads, sync optional backups, check for app updates, and send crash/performance data (see Section 3).

We only request permissions necessary to provide the app's features, and each permission is used only when the related feature is active.

2. How We Use Information

The app uses contact information only for the following purposes:

• Displaying contacts inside the app
• Detecting and removing duplicate contacts (with user confirmation)
• Exporting contacts to backup/CSV files when requested by the user
• Managing hidden or secured (vault) contacts locally on the device
• Other in-app tools such as birthday reminders, group management, and contact history, when used by you

Your contacts themselves are not uploaded to our own servers. All contact records, hidden vault data, and PIN/lock information are stored and processed locally on your device.

3. Third-Party Services

This app uses the following third-party services to operate and to support the free version of the app. These providers may collect and process limited technical data as described below, under their own privacy policies.

a) Google AdMob (Advertising)

We show ads (banner, interstitial, native, and app-open ads) through Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may collect device identifiers (such as the Advertising ID), general device information, and interaction data (such as ad views/clicks) to serve and measure ads. Depending on your region and consent choices, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.

• You can manage ad personalization in your device's Settings → Privacy → Ads (or Google Settings → Ads).

b) Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics (Google)

We use Firebase Analytics to understand feature usage (e.g., which screens are used) and Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash and diagnostic reports so we can fix bugs. This data is limited to app-usage events and technical/device information — it does not include your contact list or contact details.

c) Google Play Services

Used for standard platform functionality such as in-app update checks and Play sign-in features where applicable.

We do not control how these third parties use data beyond what is disclosed in their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

4. What We Do NOT Do

• ❌ We do NOT upload your contacts to our own servers.
• ❌ We do NOT sell your contact information.
• ❌ We do NOT share your contact list with advertisers or any third party.
• ❌ We do NOT use your contact data (names, numbers, etc.) for ads, marketing, or analytics.

The advertising and analytics SDKs described in Section 3 only receive standard technical/device data required for their function (e.g., Advertising ID, crash logs, app-usage events) — never your contact book contents.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell user data or transfer your contact information to third parties for their own marketing purposes. Limited technical data is shared only with the service providers listed in Section 3, strictly to operate ads, analytics, and crash reporting as described above.

6. Permissions Used

WRITE_CONTACTS	Edit, delete, restore, or merge contacts at your request
INTERNET	Load ads, sync updates, send crash/analytics data
STORAGE (where applicable)	Save/export backups and media files you create

No sensitive contact data is transmitted externally by us.

7. Data Security

Contact processing occurs locally on your device. Hidden/vault contacts and app-lock (PIN) data are stored locally and are not transmitted to our servers. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect app data from unauthorized access.

8. Your Choices

• You can revoke Contacts or Storage permissions anytime via your device Settings → Apps → Contact Vault → Permissions.
• You can opt out of personalized ads via your device's ad settings (see Section 3a).
• You can request deletion of any Firebase-linked analytics/crash identifiers by contacting us (Section 10) — note that contact data itself is never stored on our servers, so there is nothing server-side to delete for that.

9. Children's Privacy

This application is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and ads shown through AdMob are configured accordingly. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will address it.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add new features or third-party services. Updates will be reflected on this page with a revised effective date.
